Wasabi Wars

The last time we had dinner group, the Wolfe's took everyone out for a ride on their boat on the Willamette in downtown Portland while watching the sunset. Sounds fun, huh?
I wouldn't know because I managed to get strep throat a couple days before. Pretty lame. I also managed to get an allergic reaction to some cleaning supplies just in time for the Wolfe's New Years Eve Party.

Worried that the Wolfe's might have me categorized as some crazy hypochondriac, I knew we needed to wow them when it came our time to host dinner group. So what better way to do it than with SUSHI!
Okay, so Stacey and Melissa weren't crazy about the raw fish, but they were good sports and we had a few good laughs while watching the boys play "Quien as mas macho?" with wasabi.

The beautiful spread.

Jason teaching Ben and Josh a thing or two about the fine art of sushi making...

Melissa, Stacey and RachelThe war is on dude!

Wipe away the tears...What Jas, can't handle a little wasabi? That's okay...neither can Josh! The guys really know how to serve up dessert...(nice touch Ben on using the cilantro instead of mint leaves...way to improvise...so creative...oh and by the way, we really appreciated the crab in our ice cube trays...such a nice hostess gift.)

What's a dinner group? Do you guys just switch between three couples and one couple is in charge of doing something creative for dinner once every 3 months? That's a cute idea! You did good this month, Rach!

Now that I know you're coming for the summer, I'm getting more and more excited! I'm thinking that maybe Adam and Diana will have to stay at our house b/c with Matthew and you guys and Kirsten's mom at her house, there won't be room for them. They can sleep on our bunk beds. Anyway, we have time to figure it out!

We had a blast and would run to your house for sushi night any day. We busted a gut reliving the wasabi wars and who knew about the ice cub trays. News to me! Oh, those boys . . .

Looks fun. I need Jason to teach us how to make sushi. Paul would love it!

Cilantro is good, but not on a dessert. That is too funny. Looks like a lot of fun.

Wow Rachel! I am SO IMPRESSED! I don't think I could do sushi...I've never been able to do seafood. But Mike, on the other hand, absolutely LOVES it.

Looks like you had a good time! Love the presentation of it all!

This looks like so much fun! I have already started copying your life (as usual) and have suggested starting a dinner group in our ward. Of course, it won't be nearly as good as yours b/c you guys won't be in it.:) I'm totally impressed that Sensai (sp?) Jason can whip up sushi for a crowd!
